I’m so happy to finally be wearing my spanking new 4Objects Swiss dot cotton shirt that’s slightly sheer, cool, and breezy but makes you feel dressed (I’ve been waiting a long time, and it’s finally available!). Since you can kind of make out my lacy Else Zoe bra underneath, I’m giving her a shoutout. The 1960’s ecru jeans were a recent score from the sale bin at 9th Street Vintage (new options here, here, and here), those are my comfy Nomasei sandals in the best celery green, and, most importantly, they have a totally walkable heel (I hoofed it across town in them the other night for a friend’s birthday dinner). I have always loved silky slips of all kinds, from real underpinnings to pieces with a lacy lingerie vibe (I loved a hacked-off vintage one over Martin jeans (iykyk) in my Lucky days). So I hightailed it over to Dôen on Sunday, with the sole purpose of trying on all the diaphanous silk versions, and reporting back to my friends Anne and Stacy. I probably drove the sweet salesperson nuts trying on all the sizes and colors, until I settled on the black long one (V-neck) in an XS, the Carob in a small to layer over the other one, and the shortie in Conch (I chose that neck for all three because it feels more old-school, but there’s also a scoopneck version). Stay with me here, and you’ll see them all in action below. In this photo, I’m wearing a vintage find that I’ve had forever—this is almost identical, this has a similar vibe, and this is a bit shorter (love the Magenta, too). I like to juxtapose the sweetness of mine with a vintage Native American statement piece—you can find a ton on Etsy. This is a great investment, and this would also add a nice pop of color. Or you could go for a pair of sweet turquoise earrings like these, or a bold cuff (all so good with a crisp white button-down, too)—CODE: ANDREALINETT15).

Here, I’m in one of my all-time favorite vintage scores: a silk-and-lace half-slip (but this, and this washable one, this slightly longer swingy one, and this one that’s under $40). I like it with Mike’s tee from Alex Mill—It’s a size large, and I usually roll up the sleeves. The slides literally feel like slippers (kind of love these too, and they’re on sale). The bag is my new carryall from Chan Luu that has the coolest shape, just enough pizazz, and is super light, so you can stuff it if you need to. Needless to say, I will be lugging this around all year long, and you can kind of make out my handmade silver cuff by Ronald Anderson for Ten Thousand Things (truly a work of art), and anklets from The Shuk, Beek, and Jenny Bird.

Here, I’ve layered the two Dôen maxis together, and I love how you can see some of the black underneath the brown. This could be nice on its own or under one of these, too, for a little peek of lace. And since we’re here, let’s also just take a sec to appreciate this beauty (under a sweater in the fall?), I’m wearing my favorite No.6 wedge clogs, my sequined pouch from Maria La Rosa (but this!), and Melanie Auld’s beachy shell pendant on a leather cord. And that’s our new Ruggable that feels like sisal, except it’s totally washable!

And finally, my Dôen short slip in Conch that I will definitely wear under sheer dresses, etc., but I also love it over jeans or army pants (mine are vintage, but these are basically the same) alone or layered under a tee (mine is Ozma). Here are the sandals that look super bare but have nice arch support (and they’re almost named after me). The woven bag was a gift from Anne from Block Island last summer, but this, this, and this all feel similar.

It was so ridiculously hot in New York the other day that I couldn’t imagine wearing anything but all white—namely, a Goldie Tees tank and my Zadig skirt, that’s light as a feather and feels like one owned by a Victorian maiden gone wild. I was gifted a bottle of Self Glow’s Endless Summer, formulated by the UK's self-tanning guru, James Read, who’s done believable-looking “tans” for stage, screen, runways, and red carpets (more about him here). Read has apparently worked for years on perfecting the right streak-free, non-orangey formulas that are “skincare first” with ingredients like hyaluronic acid, aloe, and vitamin E. I’ve been using this for a couple of days now after drying off my skin from the shower, and I have to say, it’s nice and subtle (and buildable) and pretty damn convincing—Now I want to try the mist and tanning mask!

My friend Christine and I have both been on the hunt for a scarf bag (we really want the Dries Van Noten one, but it’s so $$$). Then we simultaneously found this really good one at Farm Rio, and it’s got a cool carved wooden handle. Great minds!

If I were a shorts person, I would go for something like Ayr’s old-school trouser style, because it reads more like a skirt (or extremely cropped pants!). And while we’re here, let’s look at all the sale pieces (still lots of sizes left).

I am kind of a wine snob, not in that it has to be fancy or expensive, I’m just super picky. We got a couple of bottles of organically farmed Avaline to try, and I was shocked to find that I love them both!! The Sauvignon Blanc is just right, and refreshing (not too dry, not too sweet). I’m even pickier about reds, but the Cab pretty much knocked my socks off—interesting and full-bodied (Mike says he only likes cabs driving him to the airport (yuk yuk), but there’s a Pinot that’s more up his alley). Even though we have several liquor stores within a stone’s throw, I think I might just need to order these on the regular.

Maybe it’s odd to feature wool during a heat wave, but the ethically-sourced and sustainable brand Sheep is having a big sale, and I think these lightweight pants would be so cute in the fall, but maybe even on summer nights at the beach? Love this polo, too.

I am in love with my new paper-thin vintage DKNY pants that I scored just last week at Adele’s Attic in Truckee while visiting my pal Heidi. They’re a purer white than they read in the photos, and I’ve been wearing them every chance I get, with most things in my closet. Pants with a similar idea include these, these, these, these, this cool sandy style, and this pair that always seems to be selling out (and I’m into some of the other colors, too). My tee is an old Hanes (love Re/Done’s collab), but also my Jungmaven Lorel and Sold Out linen versions. The Breton shirt is hanging out at my waist in case of sudden bursts of air conditioning—but look here, here, and here (on sale), for yours, and you can’t go wrong with Kule in all color combos. Since I was not born with anything close to resembling pouty lips, I have used all kinds of plumpers and will try anything I can get my hands on. I have to say, Buxom’s Plump Shot actually does something, and I love the slight tingle. While I usually just go for clear, and there are a gazillion shades to choose from, I’ve been using a few dabs of Fuchsia You, which would normally seem like too much for me, but somehow ends up looking like a subtle, natural tint.

I found a jar of Farmacy’s Honey Moisturizer in the “beauty closet” and have been loving how it’s making my dry skin feel super soft and hydrated (plus, the light honey scent doesn’t hurt!).

I’ve been keeping Merit’s Flush Balm in Terracotta in my bag for easy touch-ups—it’s the perfect portable size, and pretty much foolproof—Pretty on lids, too.

You probably already know about Ursa Major’s cult favorite Golden Hour Recovery Cream, and if the rest of your skin feels extra parched, I can’t say enough good things about the Body Butter, which is super rich but sinks right in. So good on bare arms and legs before heading out for the night, too.

It’s that time when I want as little fabric touching me as possible (Hello 101 in New York City on Thursday). I even roll up my short-sleeved tees 1950s-style, like the cool cats did with a pack of smokes, just to get as much air on me as possible. Anyway, this is when we could all use a couple of “nothing” dresses in light cotton and other breathable mixes to wear at the beach, around town, dressed up, etc. First in line, we have Imogene + Willie’s 100% cotton striped caftan that feels so easy-cool and grown-up bohemian. Just add a sandal like this (CODE: ANDREA10), or some heels like this or this (both on sale rn) if you want to doll it up a little.

Xirena’s long-sleeved shirt dress is tissue-thin and comes in all kinds of colors, from earthy neutrals to the pretty turquoise blue here (also lots on sale).

This one has a nice shape, fun but chic stripes, and that cool low seam makes it even more interesting.

You can’t go wrong with light gauze, and Ocean + Main’s throw-on dress feels just bare enough, even though it covers the elbows (and that low front is a great opening to show off some summery necklaces.

This twisted maxi feels serious enough for work, but the cheesecloth fabric gives it some casual leeway.

This one is like an elevated sundress (and I would wear it over a skimpy tee, low-cut tank, or halter bra like this).

Here’s a real “I want to be her!” photo I found on Pinterest—easy, cool, summery, and the whole thing works in the city, beach, wherever. Lose the flip-flops, add some boots, a cashmere sweater, swap out the tote for something like this, and it’s ready for fall (sorry, don’t mean to rush there, just thinking ahead). Best part of all, is we can all easily emulate!

A skimpy tee could work here, but I love the slouch of her oversized one.

If you’ve been following me for a while, you know I am a super fan of Wonder Valley (the formulas, the smell, the whole thing!). And they just came out with this rich, antioxidant Barrier Balm that’s majorly hydrating and glow-making (you can also rub a smidge between your hands and tap on just-makeup-ed skin for an extra sheen). It’s a little pricy, but, honestly, worth every penny, and a little really does go a long way.

I love Hanni’s super lathery and moisturizing soap, and now I will use it with the new “Shower Scarf” for all-over gentle exfoliation, even on my back (especially before self-tanning!).

Just last weekend, I went to meet my friend Daniel for our usual Sunday brunch, and he took one look at my chalky white arms from a sunscreen that shall not be named, and said: “Don’t you use Unseen Sunscreen?!” I told him, why yes, I do, but I only wish they made a bigger tube for the body. Looks like my prayers were answered!

Just last night, I tried Rouge Français mascara that has ingredients like chamomile water and castor and jojoba oils, making it a nourishing treatment, too. I also love the cool brush and how it makes my lashes look fuller, but still super natural. And it’s from Credo, so we know it’s clean!

We came in on the red-eye from San Francisco yesterday (and when I say red-eye, it was delayed until 1:15 am!). Needless to say, after I woke up from passing out on the bed when we finally made it home, I looked a little worse for wear. So I did a quick “facial” with Suzanne Kaufmann's Glow Mask, which really is a game-changer, making dull, tired skin look healthy and bright.

When we were about 14, my friend Anne and I called whatever we chose to wear over our swimsuits “butt covers” or “snack-bar covers” because we were always trekking up the sand for a treat (Sunkist and salty burgers) and felt too exposed in just our bikinis (I usually wore my dad’s old button-downs and boxers for this trip). So today, I bring you many ideas for butt covers, snack-bar covers, or just plain classic cover-ups. The other day, my friend Laurie and I were enjoying a glass of wine at a sidewalk café when a parade of women walked by, all in some form of cami or tank top (or singlet, as they say in Australia and the UK), and she said, “You really need to do a post about camisoles.” It’s true—maybe you like to show off your arms, need something to wear under a sheer silk blouse—CODE ANDREAL10 (also cool layered under something like this or this), or are just plain hot. You can even layer one over a short- or long-sleeved tee, like a vest. I first heard about the enigmatic Escentric Molecules from Rashida Jones many years ago on a Lucky shoot (she also taught me how to properly walk up stairs to get maximum glute benefits, but I digress, although I do think about her every time I ascend a staircase). So I started with Molecule 01, which can act as a base if you like adding other oils or scents (I do), and then moved on to Escentric 01 (I use both now), and always a spritz of the newer Patchouli before I go out (but the line has built up quite a bit since the beginning, with different notes added, like Champaca and Clary Sage—peruse all the discovery sets here).

As I was scrolling around on iHerb, I found this fun strawberry hand cream in the most fun vessel, which kind of took me back to all those kooky Avon products back in the day—my favorites were the lip glosses, like the minty one that resembled a Wrigley’s pack, and the peachy and rosy versions encased in a bright red pair of lips. Anyone remember?

You might have heard of Londontown for its cult-favorite Nail Concealers, but there are a few other products I want to call out. Mike forgot to add this one to his stellar Father’s Day post yesterday, so here goes: As I’ve said so many times here, after I had Gino, my usually thick hair could all fit in a small Goody barrette. I used to be obsessed with Aveda in the ‘90s and recently rediscovered the Brilliant conditioner (good name, because it is). It’s not too heavy and smells good—I slather some on from mid-length to the ends, work it through with a wide-toothed comb (chic!), and it detangles perfectly without too much hair pulling. It’s formulated for textured or chemically treated hair, but I think it would work for anyone!

And to get my hair exactly the way I like it (clumpy, ropy, beachy), I just use Rahua’s Curl Butter on towel-dried hair, throw it up in one of these, and let it, and the air, do their thing.
