How About a Macrame Bag?

I remember spotting a cool woman at the old New York Adorned years ago, with an amazing loosely woven leather bag from Antik Batik (of course I asked) and I’ve been on the hunt for a similar one ever since. Right now there are a slew of styles to be had, made from woven cotton or cob-webby leather— and this vegan version from Velvet is very close to the one I saw on that day.

.Zara’s mixed-media shoulder bag has a very Gucci-esque bamboo handle that gives it just the right amount of elevation.

This Phillip Lim guy is pretty close to that Antik Batik one too, and the inner pouch is light so you can really see the knot work (and your stuff won’t slip through the holes).

Here’s a good, simple one from Gap that’s perfect for the beach.

JW Anderson’s spangled number is fun for day and just right for night.

This classic lined style reminds me of those cute crocheted cardigans my friends and I used to buy in Chinatown in the ‘90s.

Here’s another good one from Phillip Lim with some pretty silver flowers.

Rachel Comey’s intricate leather version is sprinkled with pretty beads, and so sweet in red (love the brown, too).

J. Crew’s has a perfect proportion and a drawstring closure (and it’s now on sale).

This one that I found on Etsy is made for a phone, but you can also squeeze in a credit card, and lippie.

Jeffrey Campbell’s version is woven through a cool wooden piece (like an old-school wall hanging in a surf shack) and looks like a pristine vintage find.

And you can’t really go wrong with this black rope style that’s now a mere $14.99.
