I found this photo on Pinterest that so perfectly illustrates everyday high-low, and the use of color (or non-color in this case), to frame an outfit (aka the “sandwich” method). Our subject’s pieces are pretty classic, but put together, they really create something, and it’s all in the mix and silhouettes. Let’s break down!
Her plain black turtleneck is nicely slouchy and slightly oversized (a tight one wouldn’t look as cool). I like really like this one from Naked Cashmere.
The white chinos could skew mumsy-preppie, but the way she has them cropped makes them more like old sailor trousers (i.e.way chicer.) You can do the same with this pair, and maybe go up a size.
No doubt she’s wearing Gucci loafers, but these are a similar deal.
Her brown woven lattice bucket bag is an unexpected choice, and perfectly breaks up the black and white. I love this one or this one from Ralph Lauren.
The big sunglasses add extra glamour, and these Warby Parkers would do the trick.
Love her pants 😍
Does anyone know who makes that bucket bag in the picture?
