Make Mine Red
Ruby, tomato, lipstick, you name it, I suddenly want it
Color in summer is always a good idea (and even in the coldest months when you need a little mood lifter). Right now, I’m really feeling all kinds of reds because the tops look like they belong with jeans, and everything else just feels unexpected and happy. Like Massimo Dutti’s linen dress that would be fine and dandy in black, or even navy, but is so much more wow in red—same with those cool flip-flops!
Here’s a pretty, romantic top that would usually be crafted in white, but it really lights up in this shade.
And for some reason, I’m obsessed with red jeans— These La Lignes and Dé Rococos are both good examples of what I’m thinking (read slouchy, not fitted). The code for La Ligne is ANDREAL10, and Dé Rococo is ANDREA10 (both site-wide).
We’ve posted the natural Mary Mill tote, but how punchy and fun is the red?
And here’s a sweet tomato dress that feels just as classic as any other neutral.
I love the cool drape of this AYR tank that feels tee-shirtesque with a blousy slant (kind of like a more interesting shell top).
And what’s cuter and more French than a classic, red ballet flat? That little strap makes them even cuter (and helps keep them on your feet).
The obsession really started when I decided I needed a red button-down—this one has matching buttons, which I so appreciate.
You could always go for a black silk pant to wear at night, but this washable ruby pair really stands out in a good way (and would be just right with a shrunken white tee and red lip-flops for day).
Else’s underwire bikini top is such a good shade of crimson, and here’s the matching bottom—Or maybe a one-piece is more your speed.
Classic barely-there Bernardos feel extra special in bright cherry.
A lot of you probably own a black slip skirt, but this candy apple shade feels like something really new, and can be worn dressy, casual, or somewhere in between.
Ok, this is more of a coral, but I am. crazy about the kimono shape of this cotton tee (and it’s under $30, so I’m getting white or black, too).
Anne and I were just discussing how we have enough black dresses and need a happier option, so I found this one for us!
We’ve all seen the Dragon Diffusion-like bags all over the place, but this scarlet feels a little more unexpected and cheerful for summer.
Dé Rococo’s baby tee in a rich burgundy would be just right with those red satin pants or slip skirt (Code: ANDREA10).
Here’s a good pair of cropped trousers that are a perfect work option with a shoe like this, and for futzing around on the weekend with something like this.
The oversized, boxy shape of this otherwise classic jacket makes it so much cooler (plus, double zipper!).
And if you’ve ever had Baywatch swimsuit fantasies, this one’s for you.

Where’s the red lipstick?
(I have never been able to pull it off, sadly.)
What a fun post! I love red and have a couple of red tops tucked into my closet which has taken on more of a stormy palette. My problem is how do you keep red RED?? I do have to wash things occasionally but then they tend to come out duller even washed in cold water and with a detergent for delicates. Maybe it's my water. Should I stick to red purses and shoes? I don't mind that red purse AT ALL!
