I just want to start this post by saying there was once a picture of me in a jean jacket on Lucky mag’s website when I was maybe 41, and someone commented that “no one over 40 should ever wear that!” Well, sorry to break it to whomever that was, but I will always classify this as a forever staple that you can wear until you’re 100 (101!). So today’s dress-around piece is none other than the one-and-only Levi’s Trucker Jacket, first designed in 1961 (and I have to point out it’s got handy little side pockets—some styles don’t). And it really is a perfect spring outerwear choice when you don’t need to be so fancy.
Our first look is a little bit ‘80s (can’t you just picture it on Madonna on some MTV appearance?). Throw it over a striped tee, black denim pencil skirt, and add black sling backs, and retro sunnies.
Next, we’re going classic-casual with ecru jeans— These are super drapey and light for summer— a sweet striped shirt (also comes with a little matching neck tie—cute!), good almost-flat sandals, and a fun tote.
And last, we’ve got a dressed-up sporty vibe with a cool, roomy tee dress, sneakers (not such an athletic-y pair), a simple-cool carryall, and fun baseball cap.
This 62 year old just wore her jean jacket just yesterday
Pretty sure Madonna wore a version of Look #1 in the Borderline video so you nailed it with that one! 👏
