Here’s a classic shot of Rachel Williams by Gilles Bensimon for Elle, sometime in the ‘80s, looking exactly how we all wouldn’t mind looking right now (at least the illuminated skin part). So the following are a bunch of products that can help get us at least a little closer.
I really do love my Ziip Halo that I usually use the day before I want to look my best— Use the code ANDREA10 for 10% off (I also use the Newa and you can use the code ANDREA15 for 15% off). They both make skin rosier, and just way better!
Goop Glow pretty much lives up to its name. It’s another good choice to use before a big event, or when your skin just feels blah.
I just got a tube of this Refy Body Glow that moisturizes while leaving a sexy sheen— so good for arms in bare tops—and it still looks natural.
I threw a bottle of Josh Rosebrook Active Infusion Oil in my carry-on on a recent trip, and kept using it throughout the flight. I’m telling you, my skin has never looked or felt better exiting a plane.
I’ve said it before, but I’ll say it again— I never leave home without a pretty tin of The Outset Rescue Balm— I pat it on my face to feel a little cuter (it seriously works) p.s. you can also get refills of all the other products like the cleanser that I love, and most everything else. Also, the wildly popular Lip Oasis Glossy Treatment is finally back in stock.
I was gifted a tube of BDB Blushing Effect Lip Oil, and, assuming it was clear, smeared it haphazardly all over my mouth. My husband commented that I kind of looked like a crazy lady, because it actually leaves a rosy color, which was, at this point, colored way outside the lines. So lesson learned— Put it on like a normal person, and you’ve got yourself a couple of subtle, glowy lips.
I want to talk about my friend Daisy Tinsley Barnett for a minute. She’s co-founder and CEO of the eponymous, fun and inspiring styling app launching soon—Sign up here to be one of the first to learn about it and follow her Substack here. She also has the smoothest and bounciest skin I’ve ever seen (except on a kid, of course). While I attribute it to genes, Daisy swears it’s all about Oslo Skin Solution, and claims it also makes her hair grow like a weed. So, of course I bought some immediately and have been drinking it every day since it arrived at my door. I’ll keep you posted! p.s. It’s endorsed by designer Anine Bing, who also looks pretty fantastic.
I am so intrigued by all Typology products, because they’re natural and French and have cool packaging. I always wanted to try the tinted serums, but, so far, there’s no place to test them IRL, so I always abandon the idea. But, I finally ordered the Glow Drops, figuring there was less room for error, since there’s only one shade. Turns out, I really love them— Sometimes I throw them straight on my face, and others I’ll mix them in with my usual Supergoop! Glow Screen in Golden Hour for a little extra highlighting. Seriously, so good.
I ordered 19/99 High-Shine Gloss on a whim, and I ended up making it part of my going-out routine. I dab a little on my eye lids and cheekbones for an instant natural sheen.
If you like your nails to look polished, but aren’t into them looking like they’re painted, I suggest Dior Nail Glow, which just gives them a slight, healthy blush.
And finally, how cool is this ice roller from none other than Garance Doré? (I recently had a little sit down with her and I’m still feeling glamorized from it). Anyway, you just keep this in the freezer and roll it on your tired face in the morning to get the blood flowing and reduce any puffiness.
omg, that photo of Rachel Williams... I had that issue of Elle magazine when it came out, and I used to PORE OVER that story. I was probably 13 and I just found everything in that issue captivating. it was everything. I actually tracked down a copy on eBay and bought it and it still slaps. there are hints of things I still love when I looked at it again. rip fashion magazines, frankly.
Andrea, what do you think the difference is re: results between the ziip and the newa? And if you were to choose just one, which one? (And if you were most concerned with jawline jowls area). Appreciate your thoughts- thanks!!
